10 Relatively Unknown Uses For Beer

I've made known my feelings towards beer before - If I see it, I'll drink it but if I don't, I won't thirst for it. Beer is one of the most sought after beverages in the modern world, after plain old H20 (water) of course, but my first love has been and always will be a high tall mug of hot chocolate with itty bitty marshmallows floating the creamy frothy surface. But I digress. Beer is not just good for drinking, you can so much with a good bottle of beer! Here I've compiled 10 relatively unknown usage for beer. Enjoy experimenting!

#1 Beer bath or barf?

When it comes to a list of liquid you can fill a tub with to bathe, milk tops the list but did you know that bathing in icy cold beer can be good for your health too? The tiny beer bubbles will help exfoliate your skin and at the same time your skin will feel softer thanks to the yeast content. Important note: Don't consume too much of those beer bath water and get drunk in the tub. And don't forget to wash off after your beer bath or you'll be arrested under suspicion of DUI!

#2 Tough stain remover

It's interesting to note that you can rub a little beer on a light red wine stain on your sofa upholstery or carpet and make them easier to come off! I think this is amazing - using alcohol to get rid of alcohol! :) Don't forget to apply your usual carpet steam cleaner to complete the job!

#3 Jewelry polish

Don't panic if you need to clean your gold jewelry before your big dinner party and found out that you ran out of your usual jewelry cleaning liquid. Just grab a can of beer, pour some unto a dish and soak your rings, earrings or bracelets, wipe them clean and polish lightly and ta-dah, witness the beautiful sheen on the surface thanks to an ordinary can of beer!

#4 Yummy beer batter

Whether you use the bee batter for your fish and cheaps meal or for your seafood tempura platter, you can guarantee that beer will liven up your dinner party and have your guests asking for seconds.

#5 Bake bread with beer

Take your basic bread recipe and add a can of your favorite beer to the mixture and watch as the family polishes off the bread in no time. It's mild enough to be enjoyed by kids but you may want to watch that they do not get addicted to it ;)

#6 Beer makes good gourmet rice

Who says rice is ordinary and tasteless? I discovered that rice cooked with beer can taste just as yummy as buttery chicken rice! Stout will work just as well but you need to ignore the unusual rice color if you do mix that into the pot. Eat it with a side dish of roast chicken and salad for a filling meal!

#7 Ease tummy discomfort with beer

Feeling the usual butterflies in your tummy kicking up a storm? You can calm your nerves and put your tummy to ease with a sip of beer. Don't drink too much before an important meeting, though, or you'll be accused of drinking on the job! :)

#8 Healthy, beer-y hair

A lot of girls swear by honey and milk when it comes to washing their hair to give it a healthy glow but did you know that stout and beer is also great as a natural highlighter as well as conditioner? After soaking your hair in beer for a while, wash it off with water and it'll leave a nice scent in your hair for at least a day.

#9 Rid slugs with beer

Slugs are such pests. Before you pull your hair out in frustration as they attack your lovely vegetable garden, grab a shallow dish and fill it with beer. The slugs will be drawn to it like honey draws Winnie the Pooh Bear. The slugs will not be able to resist the golden liquid (of death!) and ta-dah, a slug-free garden is yours.

#10 Serve beersicles for summer

Hot blustery day outside? Never fear, beer is here! Instead of sickly sweet popsicles that won't really quench your thirst anyway, feel free to use the same popsicle maker for beersicles as the perfect accompaniment on a summer's day.

What else do you use beer for? :)
